Inside our first AI-native commercial shoot
What changed on set when the previs, the edit and the finish all started on day one.
Most commercial shoots are organised around a single day of principal photography. Everything before it is preparation, everything after it is repair. On this production we set out to collapse that timeline, so that previs, the edit and the finish were all live from the first day of the job.
That meant the director was cutting scenes before a camera had been rented. It meant the client saw a rough assembly of the film in the treatment meeting, not the offline. And it meant that when we arrived on set, the shot list was already the edit.
What changed on set
The crew was smaller. The days were shorter. The thing we spent time on was performance, because the geography of every scene had been resolved weeks earlier. Where a sequence would have needed a second location, we extended the frame instead.
The shot list was already the edit.
What we would do again
All of it. The pipeline is not a shortcut around craft; it moves craft earlier. The decisions that matter most were made when they were cheapest to change, and the film is better for it.
